College or not College: that's the fucking dilemma

 

                                               How the fuck did I make to college ?

 

Sometimes life has to be taken on the serious side, not too much but certain matters cannot be too lax. Thus with some fucking urgency, it is time to talk matter for the younger ones, specially now that school just started. College or not college, that's the fucking dilemma. 

And then somebody decided to create college and this made so many youngsters very upset

For some people college is just a dream: it exists in our head and is plausible, but to achieve this goal there is a lot of hard work to do. For others is not part their plan for life and don’t even bother to think about it. For a few privileged ones college will happen; is just a matter of time.


This issue has to be talk about: Just in Miami the average fee for attending college can be quite dramatic: Miami Dade College has an annual price tag of $3,145 and triplicates to $10,246 for out-of-state tuition. If you have some cash under your bed, why don’t you try University of Miami. Has a whopping cost of $25,393 annually. After receipt some grants or scholarships a four year degree is around $90,700. Is Harvard your thing ? $12,100 per year or $50,800 for a four year degree. one year in MIT has a price of $17,600 : four years 73,900. NY been the most expensive on this list, one year is $41,000 and a four year degree up to $172,200

Why you should go to College?

While preparing the info to for this post, I can say that the material was quite scarce - google reasons to go to college- and something that struck me was the fact that there are several websites claiming that college is a waste of time and money. Does not teach the necessary skills needed in real life. In other words: College does not merit the effort.

There are many websites about self made millionaires and billionaires that succeeded without the need of a college degree. Which is awesome due the fact these people bust their balls and/or vagina to reach their goal; their achievements should be a celebration of the human spirit. A triumph of  ingenuity to overcome every single obstacle that life and society throws at you.

The names on these lists have Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, all of them all are college dropouts. These people are icons of the american dream and a hopeful role model for those that weren’t able to go to school or did not want to.  

But all of those lists, omitted a vital fact: 88 percent of millionaires and billionaires have a college degree.

 

The richest man in the world is an Engineer. (and Mexican)

The Richest men in the World, Carlos Slim Helu, has a Civil Engineer degree from Unversidad Autonoma de Mexico, this azteca warrior has a personal fortune of $73 billion dollars: he makes 1, 250, 000 dollars per hour, even when he sleeps.

 

                      He is the owner of Mexico, of like he calls it: his backyard. 

 

 

The good, the bad and the ugly.  

With an average of student debt in government loan range from $26,000 to $35, 200 this might be the time to have a reality check to see if college is good for you 

The U.S. economy will generate 55 million job openings by 2020, according to the Georgetown University Center on Education, and 65% of those jobs will require some training beyond a high-school education. The average unemployment rate is 3.8 percent among those age 25 and older with a bachelor's degree. 

Full-time employees with a bachelor's degree in science or engineering averaged $66,000 per year as of 2011, while business majors averaged $62,000 annually. Somebody with a highschool diploma makes $33,904 .

Money is not everything, but helps a lot to help ease our worries. There is a magic number that has a relation between happiness and your salary and is $75,000 ( From money matter but less that people think)  

 

At the end, what really matters is: be happy. 

 

Let’s be honest, there are perfect reasons for you not to going to college: you don’t like school, no financial aid available for you - only if you exhausted every possible option- or maybe the matter of subject that you wanna study is non- existent ( Psychology of Pokemon or Ph.D in Porn).

In order for you to enjoy college you have to pursuit your passion, use that energy and knowledge  to apply it in your home and community. College is a fantastic stage in life: the human interaction, a group of people that moves towards a same goal, the different points of view, the knowledge, and why not ? there are gonna be plenty of parties and drug experimentation. Memories that you will share with people that have the same interests as you do. 

When college is a most: Doctors, lawyers and crazy scientists. If you wanna be part of this group there is no going back, you need to go to college.

At the end is up to you, college won’t make you smart or successful just because you assist its classrooms or you go to the most expensive university. The quality of the final product is directly related with the quality of the raw material and the hands that forge it.  You have to think carefully about if college is good  for you.

In our final hours, what will we regret is not what we did. What we are gonna remorse are the things we did not even try.

Why do people believe in bullshit? 

 

 

It was a hot summer night and all the right elements were in place to engage in a philosophical chat: alcohol, friends, ideas floating in the sea breeze and the echo of people's thoughts It is the unapologetic reason of just talking. The fresh wind mitigated the unusual heat. I heard people talking about global warming and how the seasons are getting extreme; then somebody said that there is not such thing as global warming because this term was created by the government for carbon taxation. I put closed attention on those words.

Later heard something about chemtrails: a black-op  to “control our mind”. Then that human clones exist and there was an U.F.O crash in Roswell, New Mexico. Finally, the biggest transgressor  of  that night: vaccines create autism.  I snatched some beers and left the group, too much mental diarrhea around me. 

 I ended up completely hammered, playing God of War. It was a good day after all. 

    Stop saying bullshit you mother fucker, if not am gonna fucking snap your neck. 

The next morning after pissed and sweated out the ethylic elixir, I was a little baffled. My alcoholic friends are smart -very smart-  Do they really believe on those things? so I decided to do some research and try to find out the origin of my friends conspiracies theories -bullshit ideas- around the net.

So for you guys, this tiny work. Enjoy it! 

 

Humans clones are walking among us.

 

 

This idea has been around for long time, made popular due the 90’s TV show: The X-files and the clonation of the sheep Dolly but it is VERY HARD TO CLONE any mammal - took at least 277 different trials to clone Dolly - and there are several philosophical and practical questions  that need to be address. 

Dr. Robert Lanza, chief scientific officer at the biotech company Advanced Cell Technology, which works on cell therapies for human diseases, and has cloned animals says:

"The extremely high rate of death, and the risk of developmental abnormalities from cloning makes human cloning unethical" and follows "It's like sending your baby up in a rocket knowing there's a 50-50 chance it's going to blow up. It's grossly unethical"

Exploding babies are never a good idea, at all.  

On the other hand, there is a very interesting scenario worthy to read: A  war in Krypton to give full rights to clones and stopped being used as organ banks.

 

Chemtrails

Conspiracy theorists say that those clouds that look like a cocaine lines control your mind.

This is one of my favorites. While I was stalking people on their facebook pages a few wannabe hipsters put a fantastic picture of Miami’s blue sky, that deep color crowned by silver clouds; a majestic view. What grabbed  my attention were the comments on it: “ So sad, chemtrails”  and more people saying that yeah, indeed, there are chemtrails and we are fucked.

Chemtrails are believed to be a government  effort to subdue the will of its people. The evil empire sends its aircrafts to  release chemical compounds in the air that modify our behaviour making us docile and accept the law with no second thought, but for a very strange reason those facebook friends are immune to this effect.

This is totally bullshit idea fueled by a paper drafted by the U.S Air Force "Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025."

Which is almost a plot for a X-men movie: controlling the weather for bellicose reasons. 

 

                  Weather controller witch by day, amazing stripper by night.  

Many government agencies around the world have received petitions from their citizens to know if these chemtrails are a real threat or just the excess of spare time mixed with too much imagination.

So far, science has found no proof that there are chemical compounds been released into the air that controls people’s minds but the classic chemtrail white cloud rail are known as contrails: "streaks of condensed water vapor created in the air by an airplane or rocket at high altitudes." 

 

Roswell

 

Very popular conspiracy theory, just google roswell+incident and you will have more than 2.17 million results. Goes like this: In July 7, 1947 an aircraft crashed in Roswell, New Mexico. The next day the local newspaper, The Roswell Daily Record, published in its first page that a flying saucer collided in the dessert and its dead crew was captured by the Air Force. People lose their shit, we are not alone in the universe and aliens are crappy drivers too.

There are several books, websites and films that are related with the Roswell incident. Not long ago video footage of an alien autopsy was circulating the net; later was revealed this was a reconstruction from a previous film now lost. After more than 50 years of the Roswell legend the true came out, the recovered debris was part of the Mogul Project: Use of weather balloons with attached microphones released to the stratosphere that allowed the detection of sound waves created by nuclear tests. 

Global Warming Deniers.

                                       Is a Myth, is a myth! 

There are many scientific research that relates the climate change with the use of fossil lard a.k.a fuel; as well deforestation that creates the Greenhouse Effect and holes in the ozone layer. In other words humans are just fucking up this planet. The conclusion of these studies are clear: if we don’t tide shit up, is gonna get hotter.

Oceans are boiling, glaciers are melting, penguins are becoming the new rotisserie chicken and polar bears are sweating. The global warming effect is making stronger storms and arid areas getting bigger. If we don't do something oceans will flood because of the ice cap melting

Several countries are creating new laws to mitigate this serious problems, which by the way affects everyone in this planet. Nonetheless, here in the U.S.A things are different, the lawmakers don’t mess around with mere mortals. They go straight to the source, they go to God. As this very eloquent and well informed congressman John Shimkus said while debating the idea for a very need legislation for carbon emissions:

“I do believe in the Bible as the final word of God,” “And I do believe that God said the Earth would not be destroyed by a flood.”  “The Earth will end only when God declares it’s time to be over. Man will not destroy this Earth. This Earth will not be destroyed by a Flood. I do believe that God’s word is infallible, unchanging, perfect.”

                                        Am a fucking loser, I knew it the whole time .

Awesome words from + 2000 years ago to tackle a modern day problem. Did I mention that global warming is real ? and this guy is in charge to make our laws?

Vaccines are dangerous.

                             Vaccines are manufactured by the Umbrella Corporation !

Andrew Wakefield is an english asshole which for some unknown reason got into the very respectful medical profession. In 1998 he published a research which correlated the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR)  with autism, even the prestigious medical journal The lancet published his findings and because of that now some people believe the vaccines are the Gates of Hell. Some afraid parents did not take their kids to vaccinations. Leaving them unprotected and exposed to the disease. 

                                                       This is a fucking idiot.

Wakefield’s research  was  found to be at least erroneous, going from fraudulent to even malicious ( he was going to sue the MMR Vaccines companies). Dr Horrendous cannot longer be a medical practitioner in his homeland, back here in america the damage is done, measles returned and as well in the Uk .

 

 

Vaccines and Mental Retardation. 

                     Don't be deceived by her beautiful eyes, she does believe in bullshit. 

In 2011 the republican primary debate, the contender Michele Bachmann, invigorated the idea of possible vaccine side effects saying that she met a  “distraught mother” of a child that developed mental retardation after been inoculated with the HPV vaccine.

There is not evidence that relates vaccines and mental retardation. Nada, zero.  Worth to mention, that her husband has a clinic that  claims can cure gayness. 

Scary fact: she might have a chance to become the  presidential candidate for the 2016 Election. 

 

Girl can only walk backwards after getting a flu shot. 

Desiree Jennings is a  gorgeous virginia resident that after having a flu vaccine shot in 2009 she developed severe side effects: walking erratically, passing out while eating and slurred speech that left her in a terrible state. Her doctors diagnostic: Dystonia,  which is a neurological and muscular disorder. She was only able to run and walk backwards normally, and when no cameras were around: she just walked perfectly.

Why do people believe in these bullshit?

The good professor Stephan Lewandowsky at the University of Western Australia, might be able to give us an answer thanks to his research about the psychology of Conspiracy Theory behind climate change.

Professor Lewandowsky: There are number of factors, but probably one of the most important ones in this instance is that, paradoxically, it gives people a sense of control. People hate randomness, they dread the sort of random occurrences that can destroy their lives, so as a mechanism against that dread, it turns out that it’s much easier to believe in a conspiracy. Then you have someone to blame, it’s not just randomness.

So in other words: this crazy talk gives you hope to keep on going one more day. Faith that you have some sort of control in this hectic world, but when these "truths" are not based in facts and the falsehood can carry very negative effects in others people's  lives. Like a mantra beggin to be recited so many times to become reality.  This is why individuals professing conspiracies theories can be as dangerous as religious zealots: they go against reason and no proof to base their beliefs. 

Just remember, faith does not equal bullshit but is a very thin line.

How to be Happy everyday.

If you are very lucky, you were born happy. Many people are. Their brain biochemistry is set on "optimistic" and they naturally see every glass as half-full. But the rest of us can still learn to think happy. We can train ourselves to choose behaviors that create happiness opportunities, and consciously decide to think happy thoughts. And when we act and think happy, we feel happy, too. If you want happiness to be a major part of your new year, you must wake up every morning knowing that it has potential to bring you happiness if you find or create the opportunities to feel it. Now read on to start your training!

LAUGH. EVERY DAY.

Happiness training starts with laughter. Young children laugh about 400 times a day; we adults laugh only 15 to 100 times a day, according to research conducted at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Laughing is vital to your health and your mind. Just 100 laughs a day provide an aerobic workout equal to 10 minutes on a rowing machine; an increase in pain-killing endorphins; enhanced respiration; a relaxation of tension; better functioning of your immune systems; and the burning of calories, though science doesn't know yet exactly how many. So open those e-mail jokes from friends and grandkids, go to funny movies and never forget to laugh at yourself.

CHOOSE HAPPY FRIENDS

Happiness is contagious. Unfortunately, so are doom and gloom. Stick with friends who spread happiness. Someone else's happiness is a powerful cue for us. When friends talk about a happy moment, we automatically scan our memories for similar happy moments. Isn't that better than scanning for painful or depressing moments from our past to sympathize with those who are always complaining? And happy friends offer another benefit - they're great role models. Next time you have a hard time finding any happiness in your day, look at your day through your friend's eyes, and her positive perspective might become yours, too.

PLAY, PLAY, PLAY

Believe it or not, there is a "happy zone" in your brain, and games can stimulate it. Card games, board games  guessing games, they all work, as long as you enjoy them. Physical play also lights up the "happy zone" in the brain, so grab a grandchild and go run around outside. And if you like sports, don't just watch, participate, because the fine-motor components involved in just about any sport increase happiness, too; apparently the rhythmic movement gives you a sense of mastery and control which increases your level of happiness. But don't think you have to play high-impact tennis or basketball to boost your mood - mini-golf, ping-pong, and even cooking and gardening work, too.

SET GOALS AND REACH THEM

More than 225 studies reviewed in the American Psychological Association journals found that happy people set more goals; persist longer in achieving them; and are more confident, energetic, likable, and sociable as a result. So setting goals is a fundamental part of happiness training. When the left frontal lobe of your brain is focused on a goal, your sense of control over your world, and your perceived happiness, increase. Your goals can be modest (losing one pound a month for a year); personal (meeting two new people); private (finding more things in common with your daughter-in-law); or tangible (learning a new language, or how to play Wii Rock Band). But if you want to keep feeling young and happy, never stop setting new goals.

PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE

People who smile, even when they're not especially happy, can actually change their brain chemistry to mimic happiness. And when the brain shifts to its "happy mode," it blocks sadness, and we feel happy. Look at it this way: It's impossible to feel a negative and positive emotion at the exact same time, so you can block the bad feelings by thinking about, or creating a good one instead. Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have proven that voluntarily producing smiles moves brain activity "in the direction of spontaneous happiness." Give it a try. I put a smiley-face on my mirror to remind me to smile. It works.

KEEP A HAPPINESS DIARY

Record every "Up" moment in a diary so it doesn't slip away. They don't have to be big moments; small happy events count, too, like the first e-mail from a grandchild, a thumbs-up from your yoga teacher, or a thank-you from the mother of four you helped in the supermarket. Happiness diaries work on multiple levels: They help you realize how many moments of happiness are already in your daily life; they help you notice when those moments drop off or fade; and they motivate you to discover more such moments.
